Tae Kwon Do/Family Martial Arts

Tae Kwon Do was originated in Korea and is the traditional martial art focusing on the combination of both combat and self defence. Literally, it is broken down into several meanings: ‘Tae’ meaning to strike with the feet, ‘Kwon’ meaning to strike with the hand and ‘Do’ meaning discipline, art or way. Therefore, Tae Kwon Do (foot-hand-way) means ‘the art of the feet and hands’ or ‘the art of kicking and punching’

At Spartans Gym we offer Tae Kwon Do classes which run in association with the World Organisation of Martial Arts Athletes (WOMAA) All our instructors have themselves achieved black belt, had experience competing in the sports and are fully qualified, insured, CRB checked and hold a first aid qualification.

Our lessons offer students the ability to learn the traditional patterns, the art of combat and sparring, and the chance to learn the Korean terms in addition to gaining the physical fitness advantage. All students also have the opportunity to progress through the grades from white to black; achieving higher belts as their knowledge and skill improves.
